We were thrilled when a past client of ours called us to help her update her basement. These homeowners are young and active grandparents to a lot of precious grandkids! They wanted this space to be beautiful, but it also definitely needed to be functional and practical for kiddos. We love a good challenge like this!
BEFORE: The client wanted to keep this a sitting area, but wanted to get coordinating furniture, and free up the toys in this room.
AFTER: Added a cabinet for storage with some pretty decor on top and 2 new swivel ROWE chairs. They are super comfy, and we can imagine the kids will have a good time swirling around in them!;) Finished it off with a fun area rug and a couple of poufs that can be moved around for extra seating or to prop your feet up on.
BEFORE: This was a very large blank wall that needed some storage for toys!
AFTER: Ann drew up these built-ins to provide function and storage for all the art supplies and toys and fill in this blank wall. She designed doors that had some dimension and interest, so that it didn't feel so plain, and we love how the dark paint really makes a statement! She chose open shelving in the middle to be able to decorate and added some wood elements and shiplap for warmth. We then ordered them a bar height table and bar stools in this area for the grandkids to be able to craft at or the parents to sit around and drink their coffee. When we got to come back and see it after the builders had installed them, we were THRILLED with how these custom cabinets turned out!!
BEFORE: As you can see from the painters tape, the clients decided to make this area under the stairs another fun space for the grandkids to play! Keep scrolling to see how it turned out!
AFTER: How cute is that??? Every little girls dream to have a little mini house under the stairs! We just love the extra detail of the shingled overhang! And can you spy my little "helper" making himself right at home??
BEFORE: Another view of the sitting area
AFTER: A cozy place to get comfortable and converse. (or for kiddos to jump from piece to piece of furniture ;)
A few detail shots:
My littlest got to join us on the day we took the finishing products and snapped some pics. He clearly didn't have a problem finding all the toys, and was not happy when it was time to leave! I'd say this grandma knows how to make a fun space for her grandkids!
